Coming of Senior Age

  05/21/2012

It is here, it has come the senior age

Is wisdom with it or just umbrage?

Is this the time to look ahead

Or freshen memories in your head?

Is it an end time to reflect

Or older pages to deflect?

Time to ponder on past regret

The best years of your life could still come yet

The freedom of living each day at your whim

The times of your leisure used up to the brim

Each morning be grateful for a new day

Anticipate pleasures coming your way

Times of work, watching time, stuck in a plan

These are now past, a new page began.

KATRINA FROM AFAR

As in the days of Noah, much evil still survives.
Anarchy surrounding, the Serpent soul revives.
It feasts on misery and despair,
Uprooted homes and damaged lives
Crisis is surmounting, desperation takes a rise.
All around is devastation, can none heed the anguished cries.
Many wonder what to cling to. Where's the anchor, in disguise?
Only God can pull them through this, all they need is lifted eyes.
Only He brings peace from chaos, only He can give reprise.
Only He can heal the suffering. If they would only lift their eyes.

Haleakala Snow .

White icing caps the mountain's peak

Frozen sugared sprinkles sprayed

Soft cotton candied clouds bespeak

The white purity darkly grayed

Children look with awestruck eyes

Such a sight never seen

In a place of bluest skies

Crisp cold flats bleach the green

A volcano should be lit with fire

But a snow-white blanket covers its steeps

Unaware of children's joyful desire

To make snowmen and snowballs while it sleeps

This is the finest beauty rare

Seen seldom in each decade

On a Maui mountain frozen air

A bridal gown in Nature's parade

Time Passes

Like a whisper through the leafy wood

Time moves through life and space

It’s a rushing brook of bad and good

Flowing streams of pain and grace

Sparkling rivers lined with stones

Some are smooth some rough

Cascades of memories in many tones

Times good and times tough

Each ripple in life’s ending sea

Brought change in different ways

May not have changed eternity

But made significant waves.

Pebble Beach Mist

The soft white mists enshroud the forest glade

All birdsong muffled and hillsides fade

A touch of mystery surrounds your space

Its dampish trails caress you face

A nip of chill a shiver to the body brings

Cloudlike wisps of moisture lightly stings

The mid morn sun comes seeping through the haze

The mist bows out when entering sunlit rays.

SOUL MATES
TWO NAMES CARVED UPON A TREE
BLOSSOMS OF LOVE BETWEEN HER AND HE
AS CHILDHOOD BLENDS WITH TEENAGE YEARS
HE IS THERE TO COMFORT, QUIET GIRLISH FEARS
TIME MOVES SWIFTLY ON, IT, NONE CAN HOLD
THEY GROW APART AS COLLEGE, AND CAREERS UNFOLD
EACH ONE INVOLVED WITHIN THEIR LIVES APART
YET STILL THE TIMELESS THREAD WILL TIE THEIR HEART
NEITHER SETTLE DOWN, NO HUSBAND OR WIFE
EACH ONE IMMERSED WITHIN THEIR SEPARATE LIFE
YEARS EBB AND FLOW, BUT MEMORIES REMAIN
AS GOOD AND HARD TIMES, RISE AND WANE
TO RETURN HOME FOR A WHILE THEY BOTH DO YEARN
OLDER, WISER, YET THEIR SPIRITS BURN
ON A HOME TOWN SIDE WALK ONCE AGAIN THEY MEET
SOULS ENTWINED WITH SOUNDLESS PASSION BEAT
THE LOVE THAT NEVER FADED BLOOMS ANEW
AS HAND IN HAND WITH JOY THEIR FUTURE VIEW.
